Air Guitar World Championships 2009

Photographing some of the craziest people alive

For who? Air Guitar World Championships
When? August 2009

The Air Guitar World Championships is an annual contest held in my home city Oulu, Finland. It is part of the Oulu Music Video Festival.

"The purpose of the Air Guitar World Championships is to promote world peace. According to the ideology of the Air Guitar, wars end, climate change stops and all bad things disappear, if all the people in the world played the Air Guitar. This is why the whole universe is invited to play the Air Guitar for the world peace at the end of the competition."

This ideology holds true in the sense that people can't have rifles in their hands if they are holding air guitars!
